The
History of the “Shampoo Goggles”
The reason we invented the
“Shampoo Goggles”:
For many years as a personal care
giver I (Marti Wells), have given the elderly in nursing facilities hair
shampoos and have tried a variety of ways to keep shampoo out of the eyes
during the shampooing process. One of
the most popular means was to hold a washcloth on the forehead during
shampooing, only to find the patient could not keep the cloth in place due to
weakness, physical deficits, and/or loss of cognitive ability. Thus, causing anxiety, pain, stress, and
possible harm to their eyes especially if the patient had recent eye surgery
or an eye infection.
Also, as a mother of five
children and three grandchildren, I have found shampooing a difficult task at
times because the risk of getting shampoo and water in the eyes, not to
mention, the fear children have of getting liquids in their eyes caused me to
consider another method.
There are products available on
the market that have attempted to alleviate the
discomfort and possible harm of liquids entering the eyes during the
shampooing process. We wanted a
product that would provide a seal around the eyes and also provide full
access to the scalp/hair. So thus, our
Shampoo Goggles was born.
Each pair of Shampoo Goggles is
made ready by loving hands and closely inspected by the inventors to ensure
that the product will meet the expectation and needs of our customers. We ourselves use our product and some of
our customers have stated, “I refuse to receive a shampoo without the Shampoo
Goggles”. – Marti Wells and Michael
